For fishing in the river Kemijoki, you'll need a fisheries management fee in addition to a local fishing permit, which you can buy when making a booking. On Rautiosaari island, there are several boat ramps where you can launch your own boat in the water. Trolling and ice fishing are especially popular in the area, and you can catch stocked rainbow trout, as well as perch, pike, grayling, trout, and pike perch. The water levels and total flow in the river Kemijoki are controlled, so water levels and flow may vary. It's not safe to move on the ice near the cabin, but there are several other good spots nearby for ice fishing. Rovaniemi offers a wide range of sports, cultural activities, dining, and shopping options, all just a scenic 20-minute drive away. Near the cabin, you'll also find a unique natural attraction called Sukulanrakan Hiidenkirnut (potholes), located about 9 km away.
